At EcoBat, a lead acid battery recycling center, it is vital to ensure that lithium ion batteries do not get mixed into their recycling systems. If a lithium ion battery is accidently mixed into the lead acid recycling process, dangerous explosions can occur which may result in injury, equipment damage, and even loss of life!PERFORMANCE GOAL: To reduce safety incidents due to misidentifying and handling batteries. In this course, Haven, the EcoBat guide, escorts learners on an exploration of how to identify, handle, and remove lithium ion batteries in order to maintain a safe working environment.I developed this interactive, scenario-based eLearning course in Articulate Storyline to help new EcoBat employees learn the skills needed to keep lithium ion batteries safely out of the facility. Characters, batteries, and tools from Envato Elements were used to build the EcoBat environment including a conveyor belt of batteries to inspect. The course features animations, AI voice-over, drag and drop interactions, plus sliders & dials for checking if the batteries are handled and removed safely. Using Canva, I created a job aid for EcoBat employees to use for when a quick reference is needed.
